About him
People at first notice a smile and a naughty and enormous sense of humour. I am an Anglo-Scot, independent, well-travelled, well-read, spontaneous, witty, passionate, perceptive, physically fit, outgoing, vivacious, slightly wild and eccentric - a little less so these days - kind, civilised, relaxed, principled and traditional. Loyalty to close friends is important.
I am now firmly rooted in SE England and I spend most of my time in Sussex.
Dislikes: bad manners, soccer, caravans, congestion, conmen, Macdonalds and 'political-correctness'.
Sports/Hobbies/Interests (in no preference): sailing, shooting, cycling, travelling, country walks, running, rugby, socialising, good food and wine (whisky too), gardening, activities outdoors, current affairs and some charitable/voluntary work in the community.
I will stand up on a point of principle and rally resolutely behind any friend under pressure.
I have many wonderful friends and, amazingly, a long deceased father who had children rather late in life, having served in both WW1 and WW2.

Someone fun-loving, attractive, bright, conversational, humorous and relaxed (with or without children). An adorable potential hostess to assist at my well-known cocktail parties would be a bonus, as perhaps would someone who knows more about the appliances in my new kitchen than I do! I suppose I should add the word 'civilised' too - given how society, these days, prostrates itself to the lowest common denominator.
There's something special about you: you are curious, can take a joke and are not easily offended.
That great unknown, chemistry, should be present and - I suggest - good food, wine and conversation, in stimulating company, usually produce an agreeable combination by which to find it!
