About him
I am a well-spoken, privately educated, intelligent classical liberal with an absorbing job in software design.
There’s no option for this, but I did go to university (Edinburgh) but I didn’t finish: I decided that getting paid to work in design was way more interesting than a Microbiology degree.
I read a lot (books, political magazines, and Wikipedia link-hopping) — mostly fantasy and science fiction books but a bit of historical fact and fiction too. All of this leads to a Puckish tendency to enjoy wordplay, if only for my own amusement...
I enjoy losing myself in music, such as the Cure, Waterboys, James, Divine Comedy, Mogwai, Twilight Sad, The National, and many more. As such, going to live gigs is always a pleasure and I have seen most of the above bands many times.
I have a wide range of tastes and interests — essentially, I'm interested in almost everything other than sport. I mean, I quite like playing sport (in a thoroughly amateur way), but I have very little interest in watching other people do so.
On the amateur theme, I also act in plays — usually a couple a year — and have even won an award or two.
Politics and economics are a passion, and I can get rather irritated when reading the news: mostly because no party or government seems to represent individual liberty these days, i.e. that everyone is free to go to hell in the handcart of their choosing. I do make an effort not to bore on about it though.
Wine and fine dining is, of course, always a pleasure, but I also enjoy a decent old-fashioned pub.
I am pretty comfortably off but, as long as I can afford the things that I want (and my tastes are not extravagant), money is not hugely important to me — I certainly don't define myself by it.
Anyway, I'm mainly up for a laugh and fun times with someone who is confident and happy in themselves.

Looking for someone confident in themselves, independent and witty (dark sense of humour very much welcomed), can match me in a logical argument, but who likes a cuddle nonetheless.
You need to be successful in your eyes.
That doesn't mean that you earn tons of cash: it means that you believe that you are meeting your goals. If you said that you want to run a donkey sanctuary, and you are currently shovelling shit in a donkey sanctuary with a goal to advance to feeding them, then you are currently successful —and you know you're getting there.
Or if you are just fun to be around, then that's cool too.
