About him
Where do I begin to give a good honest interpretation of myself ?
I will say straight off that I am a widower - my wife of forty years died suddenly 14 plus months ago.
I am a gentle, intelligent principled man. I like affection and value intimacy. I am romantic and tactile, and I miss that side of it.
I have grown up daughters, and four grandchildren, none of whom I see often enough. I have my daily walk, usually involving a canal or disused railway line, and I like History, nostalgia, " the old days ", the Seventies, and I am of the " old school " - polite, gentlemanly, kind and caring. I used to be a ' young blade ', a world traveller, a hard worker - now retired with time on my hands.
I would be interested in hearing YOUR history, whether you are divorced, widowed, separated whatever. We have all had our ' it's complicated ' moments in life.

In my garden, I have foxgloves and ferns, gunnera and ragwort, and I believe, as Titchmarsh once said, that there are no such thing as weeds - just flowers that grow where you don't want them to !
I do not get to the Cinema much these days, but here's a list of my best films, which I watch whenever they are on television - see what you think. ' The Day the Earth Caught Fire ' Edward Judd, Leo McKern - The 39 Steps, the version with Kenneth More and Tania Elg - some Powell and Pressberger films such as 'A Matter of Life and Death', I Know where I'm Going ' ' The Small Back Room' with David Farrer and Kathleen Byron, some Billy Wilder films - ' Some Like it Hot ', but a better one is called ' Kiss me Stupid ', with Ray Walston , Dean Martin and Kim Novak. Just a brief selection, there.
